That is utterly ridiculous.
Yes, personal responsibility is such a ridiculous concept. Society should be responsible for keeping people out of trouble, never should people have to think for themselves or suffer the consequences of their bad judgement call.
You're right Skunk.

I think some people are forgetting other elements are involved with the creation of a phone model. Sure, Design has a lot to do with it, as does the supply of parts.
But Apple isn't just some backstreet hack knocking up burgers, reliant on the supply of produce that will match their recipe.
The product releases are scheduled. In the consumer electronics business, the technology needs to progress rapidly, rolling old products into obsoleteness.
Deals related to parts would be in place more than months ahead. Chances are, the iPhone 5 was already beginning testing before the iPhone 4 was released.
Which means, even at prototype level or pre-production sample, the components would have been available long beforehand. You think they knock off 5 million iPhones between announcement date, and release date with complete faith in shipping schedules?
Deals relating to the supply of these parts are made long in advance. Manufacture for the iPhone 5 would have already been getting ramped up, and the need to have the new product available at, or around the existing schedule would be vital. And they wouldn't be taking chances. It's crucial in the IT industry.
+1. I can't watch one of Apples keynotes without thinking how hard it must be to get so excited and passionate about a product which has more than likely been kicking around the office for a couple of years.
The ability Steve has to be so convincingly in telling us that this product is magical and revolutionary when he knows exactly what's coming up in the next couple of years, and how bad this device is in comparison. I find it very immpessive.

You look for equivalence where we have stated none. We have simply stated that her choices endangered her own life. She is a victim of herself. That is our only point.Speak for yourself. You clearly stated that she should bear sole responsibility.
"She made a bad judgement call and if she was to die because of it, she should be sole responsible." These were your words.
Your tone will not be missed.

also GM simply hasn't quite found a clue yet in terms of brand positioning: in europe they are not only launching the Volt based Opel Ampera this fall (looking better IMHO) but also just recently anoucned that they will also launch with the Volt
looks like they never heard of "cannibalizing sales"
since this fall will also see the first diesel hybrids hitting the market it's gonna be interesting to this which way customers will decide
Yeah, I think that is idiotic of GM to do unless the Volt is launching in markets where the Ampera won't have a presence in.
And I do agree Ampera>Volt in looks. :)

@300D: your conclusion about X1900GT is based on PC world scores.
No difference. Same hardware, only the firmware is changed.
Most of barefeats benches (gaming) are pointing that 7800 is faster than X1900GT, esp. in higher resolutions. 7800GTX 512MB (flashed) has 8 pipes more and twice RAM than X1900GT (24 vs 16).
Too bad its still slower, I've tried it and the X1900 is better in every category.
and can't think of any apps I would use that would even recognize more than 2 cores.
FYI, EVERY application run in OSX natively takes advantage of multi-cpus.
Even on a G4, OSX will make every attempt to load the CPUs evenly no matter the application. There are only a few very rare instances where the work can't be split up, and most of them are limited to photoshop's outdated tools.

Again... this is advertising. ;)
I imagine they bought the cheapest iPad for this. $500 is nothing to pay in exchange for the advertising benefits they'll receive from a video such as this. If it results even in a handful of people buying their product they've turned that purchase into profit. Also, Apple profited from the sale (and also from the appearance of their product).
This is the economy functioning...
I would not be surprised if apple gave them the iPad to blend. It works out to be good advertisement for everyone involved.
Hast he blinder ever failed? All the Will it Blend videos I have watch is everything blends.

and when people realize that to get the most out of Vista they will need a new machine (anyone with a CPU more than 2+ years old). I see 10% US market share within 5 years. :)
One can always hope. But when has this ever NOT been true for a Microsoft operating system? Windows 95 ran poorly on computers released when 3.1 was out. Windows XP had compatibility issues with many Win 98 boxes. Etc, etc. This has always been true for them. The only difference now is how long XP has been out without being significantly updated.

How are things food wise?
Within the Moscone Center, pretty terrible -- expensive and not good. A much better bet is to walk over to the Metreon Center, which is very close by. The food court has some good selections. I'm a big fan of the Long Life Noodle Company.

I don't really get all the reactions, like it's the end of the world or something. If the iPhone 4 drops calls too much, just get another phone/operator? If it drops bars but doesn't drop your call or connection, then who gives a damn, seriously. You can either buy one and live with it/deal with it/love it or you can just get a refund.
And Steve Jobs is not a liar or crazy. He's a marketeer and a showman and will defend his Apple at all cost and will portrait his company as perfect and untouchable. Don't expect Apple to flat out admit that the iPhone 4 sux, because that would just be silly. That's just not how Apple does things. Either they are going to do a silent revision and fix it or just do nothing. Either way, it's your money, get something else if you don't like it.

I've believed it since the beginning of the rumors and it is getting more and more rock solid.... there will be NO iPhone.
I think it has gotten to the point that people think it will be out so bad that the rumor has been allowed to live on.
Why would Apple want to get into the cell phone business? I could think of only one good reason... the iPod will not last for much longer unless they add some serious additional functionality to it.
I believe that Apple has more to gain from the "iTV" model plan than going cellular.
Everyone has a TV. Everyone NEEDS a TV. Everyone LOVES their TV. Not everyone needs a cellphone. Not everyone LOVES a cellphone.
Cellphones have become a burden on society. Why do we need to be intouch every second of the day? We don't. Cellphones are the only form of technology out there that actually causes grief for other individuals. Think about it, how many times has the movie you are watching, the dinner you are trying to enjoy or the church mass you are trying to worship at been interrupted by the "lovely" little blaring chime of a cellphone? Or even better yet, that person picking up the call and talking on it as if the person on the other end of the line is more deaf than Helen Keller. How many times has someone cut you off in traffic or almost hit you, only to get a look at them to see that they are gabbing away on their phone, oblivious of the fact they almost killed you?
My family has a TracFone. ONE TracFone. It is to be used when we are out traveling or when someone is out shopping and might need to call back home for something. No conversations are held on it, that's why a have a Verizon bill each month for my home lines. Besides, why would anyone think I would want to hear their conversation with someone about how "Brad is such a dick because he hasn't called me in 3 days. Do you think I shouldn't have slept with him on our first date?"??? ***Real conversation I had the "privilege" of "over hearing" right behind me in my ear one day standing in line at the mall.***
Where are the GOOD rumors. Like about what new Mac Apple is coming out with? Or what new feature the iPod is going to have to blow everyone away again? How about this one, "When is Asteroid coming out???"
I'm tired of iPhone this and iPhone that. Give it a rest people. How long has this rumor been going? Maybe the better part of 18 months? Every single Mac Expo and Convention gets this crappy rumor attached to it and NOTHING HAPPENS.
Ahhhhh.... I feel much better now. Thank you.

I'm not surprised, they are probably holding off, so that way when they release iWork/iLife it will be to fanfare rather then just a mediocre entry after the grandiose iPhone.

No - Your Steam games can be downloaded whenever you like to whatever computer you are using.
So, if your Mac crashes and you wipe the HDD, you reinstall Steam and re-download for free.
Or, if you migrate to a Windows box, reinstall Steam and re-download for free.
Buy once, play anywhere.
I'll even go up you on how awesome Steam is! Don't forget SteamPlay.
I have a gaming PC and a Mac, and I can play any cross platform game on either platform with ONE copy of the game! If I had a third Mac or Pc in the mix, so be it. Astoundingly awesome. Every time I quit / save my game on one computer, I can pick up where I left off on the other. I can't put enough emphasis on how awesome that is.
And you never lose your game or get stiffed with a "digital backup fee" to re-download your game. You can download them as much as you want. Hell, I upgraded my gaming PC 3 times in 6 years and each time I re-downloaded Halflife-2.
