Hi, this is my first post here and I'm just writing because I can't stand the pressure anymore...
I started with a IIci, had a beige G3 266 and until August a crt iMac and never touched PCs since my dad gave me the IIci.
BUT:
Apples product policy is awful!
C'mon, where is the Powerbook update???
I'm from Germany and before I came to the US to study, I sold my beloved tangerine iMac DV 'cause I wanted buy a PB over here in the States (about 1/3 cheaper than in Germany...).
O.K., I have the money and I'm willing to spend it on the lower model, but only on an updated version. The current one is IMHO definetly not worth the pricetag (even compared to home...).
Most of the people in this Forum want a Superdrive and/or ddr, but I disagree. Just put in the new radeon and better cooling, maybe bluetooth and that's it for NOW. I would buy it the minute it came out.
I wouldn't mind a small speedbump, but didn't matter to me. Bring a major update in January (redesign, faster processor, fake-ddr, Superdrive, whatever...) and everybody would be happy.
I'm afraid there won't be any update till January and even then just speedbump, Radeon and Superdrive (at increased price, of course... :()
All rumors are useless, because noone seems to know something substantial. I definetly won't buy something now and sell it when the updated PB comes out (it's a question of money for me), so I think I have to use the college lab until then what is annoying, because they moved the cubes they had and replaced them with PCs. The only macs left are some b&w G3s in a poor condition (crashed my Firewire harddisk twice  ).
Sorry for another PB post, but I'm just frustrated...

that would be hilarious if:
1.) apple hadn't ALREADY changed the tech world so many times
a) apple I (first PC that changed the industry, and made every one follow in apple's footsteps)
b) macintosh (first PC with GUI that changed the industry, and made every one follow in apple's footsteps)
c) powerbook 100 (first modern portable computer)
d) iMac (first real pc to capture "trend" status)
e)apple quicktake (first truly consumer level digital camera)
f)apple newton (first truly consumer level PDA, and the godfather of all current smartphones, minus the phone, obviously.)
g)apple ipod (first digital music player that changed the industry, and made everyone follow in apple's footsteps)
h)apple iphone (first smartphone to incorporate a multi-touch screen and take full advantage of the phone as a mobile computing device)
i)apple ipad (first tablet PC that changed the industry, and made everyone follow in apple's footsteps)
I totally agree, outside of those areas, apple has made no significant impact on anyone's life. The question that you need to ask yourself is "How many products that apple has had very direct influence on do I use on a day to day basis?"
I'm assuming most, if not all of the previously mentioned products find their way into your life pretty regularly.
Thank you for actually changing the world...just like you said you would, apple.
I think you're misunderstanding the point of that, which was more to poke fun at the obsessive Apple users.

Yahoo! today announced (http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/press/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=454060) the release of two new applications for the iPhone and iPod touch, offering new tools to assist users with searches while on the go.

Yahoo! Search
The first application, Yahoo! Search (http://appshopper.com/reference/yahoo-search), is a standard search application offering voice search, local results, maps, and personalized results.Maximized for speed, the Yahoo! Search iPhone app revolves around an innovative interface that delivers contextually relevant results quickly and efficiently. A bevy of features -- tightly embedded maps, localized query suggestions that display as you type, intelligent search history, voice search, and rich content and information from Yahoo! and other sources that appear directly in the results -- creates an optimal experience for finding exactly what you need.Yahoo! Search is currently available in 22 countries, with more on the way.

Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search
The second application, Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search (http://appshopper.com/travel/yahoo-sketch-a-search) is a simple yet creative map-based application for finding local businesses. Users can simply draw a circle around a geographic area with their finger and see businesses within their specified region.Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search makes search even easier, without typing keywords or thinking about search terms. You simply draw a boundary on your phone's map to discover local businesses within that location. Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search delivers robust local content without people needing to know the neighborhood. At launch, Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search is available only in the U.S. and covers only restaurants, but additional business categories and localizations are reportedly coming soon.

Back up her black iPhone. Then set up the new white one from that backup. Aside from music and videos, the white one will be exactly as the black one was. Including the text message threads.
Is backing up any different than syncing?
Pardon my ignorance - I went from an ipod nano 4th generation household to a 2 iPod touches - 1 iPad 2 - 2 iPhone 4 - 1 macbook pro 2011 13.3 in 4 months...
The iPod touch IS a gateway drug.

I've got a 2010 Macbook Pro 13" and I'm attempting to dual boot with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on a 250gb partition. The problem is, I can't get it to install. Evey time it hangs on the "Completing Installation" phase after the reboot and from what I can tell, everything but the CPU fan stops. I've looked around and tried everything.
If I press shift+F10 during that and type 'explorer.exe' (this was a recommended fix), it brings up a box that displays "setting up personalized settings for windows desktop updates."
I have tried taking out RAM until I have 2gb left, doesn't help. I don't have anything other than the power cable connected. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

It wouldn't surprise me if we were all being trolled by one genius behind the *LTD* and Winni accounts. They do have one thing in common, getting them to admit that their opinion may be misinformed is like trying to divide by zero.
Personally, I think LTD is fake... he's having a laugh in his role as uber Fanboi.

hmm as much as i would hate to put stickers on a Mac , i could find a use if they are really good and funny and not just ordinary bumper stickers, having said that some of them might work well other then that on :apple: laptops you got more space for fun
like that one , to maybe cover up a dent on a MacBook or for your kids
http://www.machoe.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/happyhe-ice-age-squirrel-macbook-decal-580x386.jpg
the mini is quiet small for most of these stickers on offer for the MacBooks , but some might just fit , but they are most times black and possibly do then not really look as good as the mini has a dark apple logo
but there are printing shops out there maybe even one around your corner who can make any sticker you like in any size you like

1.0 of the theme!!!!!! There were a lot of small changes. But if anyone downloads and has a problem, please post here/email me!! I think I'm pretty happy with everything now. Some of the things I redid:
Sidebar
Tab bar
Bookmarks manager main panel
search bar
Congratulations! You've done well. Glad to see that you have not upset Japanese as I occasionally have had problems with a bookmark or two in various browsers from time-to-time.

You need 500 posts.
The FAQ has a lot of information about almost all aspects of this message board: http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:MacRumors_FAQ#How_do_I_set_my_avatar.3F
Btw, Site and Forum Feedback (http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66) is the proper place to ask such questions and discuss the "harsh" rule of having 500 "****ing" posts to have an avatar.

Best auction ever.. way better then that "we will throw a party in your honor" auction.
I was cracking up at this all morning...had to share with all of you...
The rocket ship was the best for sure..
How fun would it be to go on this "trip" with that maniac? I mean, you know it would be fun..
As long as that guy isn't, like, dangerous.
The best part is that the auction was created by the girl because she wants him off her property!! ha!
Five years ago I would have gone along for the ride...
Life is always more fun when you hang out with crazy people...

Why doesn't Google just send a payment for every time a video is viewed? The artists would make a ton of money and the videos would get to stay. Pulling them down and giving people a reprimand is not the right way to go.
