Reminds me of the "Show me the G5!" over the Lightwave avatar you a long, long, long time ago :cool:
that was so long ago....
but I did this really fast in Flash, the other was in Lightwave - that was a lot nicer:D
Sad thing is it took a while before we actually saw the G5....

i can't recall all the setting for the pref pane, but i know you can start the console version with the -configonly parameter to configure the client.
but let me ask, what machine are you running this on? and which client are you running?
i replied that question in another thread you asked yesterday (i think). its the i7 imac :)
client? umm when i open the console it says Version 6.29r1. does that help?

So I have had my 8GB iPhone for about 4 months and it is amazing. However, I absolutely have to be on the bleeding edge :).
Price is set at $450, shipped. I know the price seems a little high, but I can and have gotten more than that on eBay for other iPhones I have sold, but would love to sell it to a forum member who can't get their hands on one as of right now. Remember that after taxes and the free case this actually a little cheaper than a new one, making the unlocked part of it free. I will ship anywhere in the world (although foreign shipping will be a little extra).
The iPhone is in perfect condition (still has original plastic on the front)
Comes with box and all accessories (box even has original plastic wrap)
Also included is a silicon case with an extra screen protector
It is unlocked and jailbroken with 1.1.4
I can return it to stock condition, leave it how it is with all the apps, or put it in a freshly unlocked condition.
I will include a restore CD in case you are not technically inclined and are worried about the iPhone software flaking on you at some point.
I will also be here on the forums if you ever need any help with it (check my postings for all the iPhones I've helped to bring back from the grave)
I have near excellent feedback on eBay (look for nomar383) and have been posting on these forums almost daily for a little while now
I would love to take payment by money order if possible (I hate PayPal), but will accept PayPal if you prefer. The phone will be shipped same day as payment with insurance and delivery confirmation. PM me for more pictures if you are interested in buying.

well I've just had a quick play with QEMU for the first time and I'm quite impressed. For a free piece of software it's quite polished and seems fairly stable. speed is definately not one of it's plus points though - linux reports a 38Mhz CPU on my 1.8Ghz dual G5 :-) It is slugish, but workable for basic tasks. I haven't used VPC 7 yet but VPC 6 on my old G4 always performed quite well so in the speed stakes I would suspect that VPC blasts QEMU out of the water - but VPC's not free....
I iEmulator has done nothing to the base QEMU package then I suspect all it's adding is a better UI - personally I'd rather stick commandline or use QemuX

If it really matters lacie little big disk is coming out with double SSD thunderbolt drive. It'll blow USB 3 away.
Well if you're using a Mac, your question is moot. OS/X does not support USB 3.0.
WRONG. Accessories can let your Mac have USB 3.0:

Hi everyone,
I like to listen to my iPod Classic at night while I'm going to sleep but the lowest volume setting is too loud with the Sennheiser earbuds I'm using.
I know you can lower the volume of the tracks in the iTunes metadata editor, but then my music is too quiet during the day.
Is there a simple software solution to this problem? I'd like to avoid buying some piece of hardware, but I'm aware that an inline volume control of some sort may be the only solution.

You could upgrade the mini to 8GB RAM (you could use 3rd party memory to do this) then use a virtual machine via VMWare Fusion or Parallels to run your programs that use microsoft.net

Hi all,
I have a few questions if someone doesnt mind answering
I'm getting my first macbook on thursdag! im extremely happy about finally saving up for one, and the main purpose of it will be to learn how to program and create iphone and ipad applications.
heres my line of questions answering just some of em would prove very helpfull for me.
1. Which would be better for programming? macbook air or pro? both the 13" ones.
2. How do i get started? i'm new to programming and some "totally beginners book for the dummies" would be nice If the book contained some code or examples that actually shows i'm doing some progress would only be a plus, for example some test projects - ofc the main thing would be to actually learn the language and start on my own.
3. Should i learn cocoa or objective C first? or both at the same time? What is the diffrence?
4. Is iphone and ipad programming similar and can both be learned by reading the same subjects in a mentioned book?
5. Can i create apps on my own? i have no skills in designing anything, so im wondering if theres maybe some free to use buttons, characters etc whatever u need? or do i NEED to have a designated designer??
I guess it covers it thanks for taking ur time to read! looking forwaqrd to any answers!
Best regards!

Here's some code I have that does this. These methods are in a view controller and the point is to show a full screen view that's transparent, blue, and has a spinning progress view in the center.
// ==============================================================
// hideShowProgressView
// ==============================================================
- (void)hideShowProgressView:(BOOL)inShow
{
CGRect newFrame;
CGRect windowframe = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds];
// The main screen frame is always the same so we need to go offscreen
// to a different place depending on the interface orientation
// If landscape the sizes will be backwards, origin is always 0, 0
if (UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape(self.interfaceOrientation))
{
CGFloat width = windowframe.size.width;
windowframe.size.width = windowframe.size.height;
windowframe.size.height = width;
}
CGRect offframe = windowframe;
offframe.origin.y += offframe.size.height + 10;
if (inShow)
{
// Build and show the progress view
UIView* backgroundView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:offframe];
UIActivityIndicatorView* progress = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithActivityIndicatorStyle:UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge];
// Center the activity indicator view in the backgroundView
CGRect progressFrame = progress.frame;
progress.frame = CGRectMake(offframe.size.width/2 - progressFrame.size.width/2, offframe.size.height/2 - progressFrame.size.height/2, progressFrame.size.width, progressFrame.size.height);
progress.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibl eTopMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin;
[progress startAnimating];
backgroundView.alpha = 0.6f;
backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor];
backgroundView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibl eTopMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin|UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth|UIViewAutoresizing FlexibleHeight;
[backgroundView addSubview:progress];
self.progressView = backgroundView;
[progress release];
[backgroundView release];
// Add the progress view to the navigation controller view and it covers everything
// and also rotates correctly
[self.navigationController.view addSubview:backgroundView];
newFrame = windowframe;
}
else
{
// Hide the progress view
newFrame = offframe;
}
// Animate the view on or off the screen
// need to remove the view when the animation finishes

The only way the keynote is going to be "worth it" ($300) is if I own Apple stock. :D Unfortunately I don't :(
Don't get me wrong, I am very happy to be here, but I am a little frustrated with the people working the conference. I attend and work at many conferences, and it just seems like everybody passes the buck at MacWorld. I also feel they need to be more clear on their online registration about what needs to be done if you want to see the different sessions.
The keynote is the main reason I wanted to go, but I figured I would be able go and sit in on a few things.
Just venting I suppose.
how much money did you save with that pass?
I really didn't save anything... it was a 2 day pass (which was all I would be able to stay for) and it cost $300.
My brother's pass is the one on the right and it cost $340. He can essentially get into anything except for the educator sessions all week long. I just assumed it was an educator discount, not an educator session.
I missed the first session because they were having computer issues this morning and the line wasn't moving. I went to go up to another session and they said I couldn't get in because I had to register for the session. I had no idea - didn't say it anywhere on my registration receipt anywhere. As a matter of fact they didn't send me the names of the sessions until last Friday.
As a high school band director, I don't know how much it would have helped to attend that particular session, but it beats sitting in the lounge all day browsing the internet.
I think I'm going to file a formal complaint with them.

So i ran a port checking tool and these are the results. I expected port 80 to be closed because I disabled the web service however mail is on and smtp is enabled with ssl and yet 587 continues to be closed as if nothing were listening on that port.

I just wish that he would crawl back in his hole....I'm tired of seeing his ugly piehole plastered on every channel on the TV.
I agree, whatever happened to drug-abusing celebrities who were both cool as hell and talented? Where's Jimi, Janis, Cobain, HST, Burroughs, Morrison, and John Belushi?!! Oh yeah...
(Not that Charlie Sheen isn't talented, he was great in Platoon, but that was 25 years ago, and 2 and a half men is crap)
I would buy that app though.

Sorry to bother y'all with another release date question.
With iMacs and MacPros also due for an upgrade, are Mac Minis even next to be released?
How do you think Apple prioritizes? (besides materials available, that's obvious)
