Professor Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was a guest lecturer at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. He lectured the IIM students on the subject ‘Introduction of Contemporary Film Industry’ and spent over 2 hours interacting with them.

A source from the campus says, “Aamir decided when he was on the sets that he wanted to lecture. When he came to know of the newly-included ‘Introduction of Contemporary Film Industry ‘, he went to Ahmedabad that evening.”

Talking about the lecture, the source says, “Aamir discussed the business angle of Bollywood and how it has changed over the years. He talked about how the global recession is affecting everyone. He also talked about the start of his career and how he used to be confused when it came to selecting the right script and director to work with.”
Later, Khan also spoke about his journey in the industry as an actor, producer and then director. The source adds, “Aamir also discussed his flop films.”

Aamir spokesperson confirms this saying, “Aamir did visit the IIM Ahmedabad campus. Now he is busy shooting for 3 Idiots in Bangalore. He doesn’t like being disturbed when he is on the sets.”

According to the source, Khan is not the first Bollywood star to lecture on this subject. “Directors Sanjay Gadhvi and Apoorva Lakhia have also come to the campus in connection with the same course. Among the other invitees are Farhan Akhtar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Kamal Hassan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra,” says the source.

About the ‘Introduction of Contemporary Film Industry’ course, Aamir was a visiting faculty for an elective course on ‘Introduction to Contemporary Film Industry’. This course can be done by 2nd year students of the institute’s post-graduate diploma programme. The course covers production, economics and marketing.
