Alaska Airlines iPad Manuals Replace Pilot Manuals

Alaska Airlines iPad Manuals Replace Pilot Manuals
Alaska Airlines iPad Manuals Replace Pilot Manuals. iPad will be replacing pilot’s flight manual on Alaska airlines. Flight manuals typically weigh 25 pounds and they are being replaced by 1.5 pound iPad. As per the airlines, that is a significant cost saving in fuel saved to carry lesser load. Of course, they failed to mention the iPad paraphernalia like the charger or a cover if needed. The iPads will be loaded with 41 pdf’s and a GoodReader app.
Cost saving or not, browsing through the flight manuals on an iPad is a whole lot easier than sifting through 25 pound manuals.
I just hope the pilots don’t load up Angry Birds on it.

iPad replacing the dead tree counterparts is vogue now. A New York hotel has replaced the room service menu card with an iPad. The app that comes with the iPad does a lot more things than the manual because of its innate interactivity.

There’s iPad and then there is rest of the tablets. It’s not the tablets which are replacing stuff but just the iPads. Android tablets, we all know are a little gammy to provide a consummate consumer experience.
