Hey guys, so i've noticed that other computer forums have kind of a marketplace area of their forums. I thought this would be pretty cool if there was one on Macrumors, but I looked around and couldn't find one (if there is one I apologize for making this thread) so I thought i'd suggest it.
Also I wasn't sure exactly where to post this thread so if a mod feels like there is a better place for this posting you're welcome to move it there.
Thanks.

Haha, well I think it's a valid concern!
No, it's quite ridiculous in fact.

So my powerbook (specs in sig) has been struggling to connect to the internet wirelessly. At my home and at school the computer is about 20-25ish feet from the wireless hub and its worked fine since I've had it. But now it won't connect to the wireless network and if it does it will have maybe one bar and it will work for a minute or two and then disconnect.
So, because it is way more convent to be connected wirelessly at home, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem? I didn't know if maybe my airport extreme card was dying or something like that.
I was planning on ordering a new airport card and seeing if that was the problem, but then I thought maybe just a usb wireless card or something would work better.
ANY thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

If you really want to kick it old school, take it back to the Apple II and have an open apple on the left and closed apple on the right.

^^^ very cool!
Strictly speaking, I doubt it was necessary to replace all the capacitors, but as someone that still goofs around with a soldering iron, I was gratified to see him doing this level of repair. :)
In the vintage Mac world, the 80s era machines are beginning to need capacitor replacements. The thinking is to just do all the caps, simply because the others are likely to go soon anyway. There are guys on 68kmla (http://68kmla.org/) that are selling tantalum capacitor sets for various Macs. It's pretty cool to see the community come together to keep the old machines working. :)

As usual, here is a very good take on the announcement from Rock-Paper-Shotgun. They go into a little more detail about the game, as the press that were there for the unveiling got to see some form of a demo. Give it a read...

As far as I know you can not do that. You can 'undo' something you trashed by cmd+z but obviously it will only restore the last file trashed, if you haven't done anything else in finder yet.

I've hit a 'thought wall'.
I'm requiring a script which grabs the current 'data read/sec' and 'data written/sec' as shown in Activity Monitor.
...but I can't recall /what the/if there is a/ command to do such a thing.
I have a previous script to monitor ethernet traffic averages over set periods of time, but the traffic I'm needing to monitor just now is running over Fibre Channel - and as such the most important line of my script is, to put it succinctly, useless. :(
Thanks in advance :)

They're going to have to step it up quite a bit to compete with the PSP Go or whatever that device is called.

You should be able to... even if it is a fairly old drive with SATA I (1.5Gbps). If your mac is recent, it has a SATA II bus (3Gbps).
Apart from the speed difference, which will be limited by the drive, it should work OK.

Good deal, considering the cheapest I found was on Buy.com for $28 new. Good luck with the sale.

X850XT.
With the ATI card, you'll be able to tweak settings with the ATI Display control panel. The oversize 6800GT blocks one of your PCI slots too - X850XT does not.

The current MacBook I have is the 2008 unibody. It was the initial launch unit for the switch to the aluminum casing.
But I see your point. And as I previously said, the iPad isn't a replacement, but more of merely an interim solution, and a chance to purchase something I was in the market for to begin with.
I would really appreciate some input on how to go about doing this. Believe me, I hate wasting money just as much as the next person, so I appreciate the concern. But I feel confident with my decision thus far, and hope to remain so.
So if anyone has any advice for how to do this transition best, it would be much appreciated.

You might consider an OWC enclosure. (macsales.com) I just got one of their 2-drive RAID enclosures and I really like it. The fan is pretty loud when it's running but I use it for media file backup so I only have it turned on when I'm actually using it so it doesn't bother me.
