Apple founder Steve Jobs has lost an alarming amount of weight and is reportedly in his final days.
The computer genius behind the iPod, iPhone and iPad is stricken with pancreatic cancer and may have just six weeks to live.
Shocking new photos show Mr Jobs looking painfully frail and weak, with his jeans and dark top hanging loosely on his 6ft 2in, rail-thin body.

i agree with you here, but for me, 667 to 1+ghz would be quite a jump. nearly 100% speed increase. and yes, speed is not such an issue when opening a program, but doing high ends graphics work requires power.

Hey guys,
I know that Elite Pro has a mask so that all of the icons look the same, even if it doesn't have a custom icon for a certain app.
My question is: Is there an easy way to just delete the custom icon Elite Pro provides, so that it will then use the old icon, and just put the mask over it?
Delete the icon from the theme, either in the icon or the bundle folder depending on what method the theme uses.

Yeah, I'm definitly also looking at a docking station. But I've just read about this new dock called byte-dock http://www.byte-dock.com/ It doesn't look as nice, but I'm trying to figure out which one would be the best... but since the byte dock is a new thing there aren't very many detailes available yet. They'll start selling this month (they say) and then i'm going to compare.

In OS 9 there was a feature in the chooser when you went to mount someone else's computer, over a network, that allowed you to automatically mount that drive when you started up your computer. Is there a way to do this in OS X?

How much was the app? If it's only a dollar I'd just leave it. Why go through the hassle for a buck? It's really not worth it.

Have you verified disk?
If you did and that didn't help you can reinstall OS, while keeping your apps and user data.

Opening up iCal server is needed to build a collaborative system on OSX. I can see opening up source code as a way for the development community to create killer apps under CalDAV.

Given that Nyko has all but officially abandoned the adapter that would have allowed PS2 guitar controllers to work on PS3, I've turned to a new dream.
I'm no programmer, so if I'm completely outta my gourd I trust someone will slap me sensible... The Xbox 360 GH2 controller is a USB device with an extra button for Live. Would it be possible for someone to write a driver to make that extra button act as the button required by the PS3 to initiate a PS2 game, and permit the 360 guitar to be used on the PS3 to play the PS2 Guitar Hero games?

Have a look at the Using Application-Modal Dialogs (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/Sheets/Tasks/UsingAppModalDialogs.html) chapter of the Sheet Programming Topics guide. Also look at the Using Modal Windows (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/WinPanel/Concepts/UsingModalWindows.html) chapter of the Window Programming Guide.
But also see your other thread.

Noticed this today, When playing with 1 of my 4 360 controllers I noticed that on two of them the bottom grey plastic bit is slightly darker but shiny and on the other two the grey bit was lighter but matte. Is this to do with the different models or what? Am I just seeing things?
You're not seeing things, the plastic on the initial models was different. It doesn't mean anything.

That page is more confusing than anything, it states Jackson, Walsh and Microsoft have postponed the project, and on the other hand states that Neill Blomkamp is now directing it. It also states Jackson asked Guillermo Del Toro to direct and he refused.
Sounds like a fair bit of name-dropping there, anything for a bit of free publicity?
I'm fairly sure that from the outset of the film Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh were not directing but producing the film, heading up the search for the rest of the team as well as a fitting script. Jackson is also supplying the full support of his firm WETA Digital, responsible for all the effects seen in the LOTR series. Last I heard the film was in limbo as a result of losing the support of Sony and another big company after the search for a script was taking too long.

I don't think so. As long as the store you go has that particular product in its inventory, they can swap it out within 14 days.
The 14 days won't apply here- this is a faulty product not an unwanted one. Apple have supplied you with something unfit for purpose, so you can exchange or refund, but the sooner the better. They should deal with you in store, they have with me.
For more specific advice you must tell us where you are- the rules change in different countries.

I might end up having to do an archive and install.. but I was hoping to find and fix the problem. I'm sure I'll be plesantly surprized with how easy the archive and install goes.. (will I need to archive to an external drive?)
I had a very recent back up on an external drive in any case. It's always worth making sure that he's got a copy of his User file just in case something goes wrong.
In an archive and install OS X keeps the User Files intact (including Applications) and reinstalls the system. Occasionally there are problems with not being able to open apps but that can be to do with them expecting a later version of the OS than shipped with the Mac (10.3.8 rather than 10.3.4 etc) so re-update to previous OS version before you start reinstalling apps. You end up with an archive of the previous system file on the HD which you can't boot from. Once everything appears to be working properly, you can safely delete that to reclaim the disc space.

Hello,
If you're in Europe, you may benefit from using Apple Europe (time.euro.apple.com) as your NTP server.
This may be set by default when you installed the system. If not, look under System Preferences > Date & Time.
