I got into web design about 3 years ago when i got my first mac. I tinkered a bit before on my pc but seriously for some reason I was really motivated by the hardware I was using. I started out using front page about 5 years ago and got web fever like i said about 3 years ago when I got ahold of Flash. I dont know why I love to do it, but as a Flash developer/designer I love how robust and powerful the platform is becoming because anything can be done with it.
Designers block only seems to happened when I try to redesign my own site. I can usually make anyone else happy but my own eye. I have been working on that for sometime and always switch to a new design, but its totally normal.
The reason I choose web design is for that one day when I can truly work from home as a freelancer, no strings attached. More recently I have been taking in office freelance positions, because beggers cant be choosers all the time, especially at this point in my early career. Check around this forums for a thread about getting jobs in web design. It turns out in some areas if you arent absolutely amazing and can offer the kitchen sink, getting jobs can be somewhat hard. Honestly though, here in Philadelphia, even the bad designers and web designers can get jobs... maybe not at the most ideal place or best paying, but it has been my experience that it isnt hard at all thus far for my current location while I am in school.

300 for a Pismo is great shape is quite normal. You can regularly buy a Sawtooth G4 tower or Gigabit ethernet for under 100 on ebay or craigslist and they are more powerful than a Pismo. The price of a portability = slower hardware for more money. Keep in mind also that the Pismo is one of the most sought after PowerBook's ever. Right up there with the 12" Aluminum PB.
The scariest overprice I have seen was a never opened G4 Quicksilver tower that they were asking 1600 for. Even never being opened makes it worth 300-400 tops.
Speaking of stuff for sale I have a few random parts for sale mostly for PowerPC if anyone is interested.

Today marks the day that I've had my MacBook Air for 14 days, and it also marks the last day that I have to return my MacBook Air to Apple.
So here's my story. I was playing on my MacBook Air yesterday in the morning and it started to creak when it was moved at certain positions and angles, and whenever I put my wrists on the palmrest area. I wouldn't have thought much of it, but I just paid $1300+ for this Mac and I expect it to be nearly perfect, and up until yesterday, it was. So anyways, my MacBook Air continued to creak all day yesterday and is still creaking today.
I finally had had enough of the creaking and called Apple Support. The person that helped me with my issue was VERY friendly, helpful, and seemed intent on getting my problem fixed. After giving him my information, he quickly looked up the issue and told me that a couple of the MacBook Air's have been reported to creak, but that it can be fixed by taking it to an Apple Store and having them fix it at no charge.
After telling me this, he quickly set up an appointment to talk to a Genius tomorrow at 4:00 PM. I was VERY surprised at how much the Apple Support rep seemed to care about my issue. I've owned a lot of laptops/PC's in the past and whenever I needed support, they always sucked. Apple Support was amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
This whole process took under 10 minutes, and for me the greatest thing about Apple's Support was that I COULD ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THIS GUY! Once when I needed support from HP for my PC, I couldn't understand any of the reps at all and they didn't seem to understand what I was asking, so I ended up fixing the problem on my own, the Apple Support rep that I talked to, on the other hand, was friendly, clear in what he was saying, and intent on helping me fix my problem.
I love Apple. <3 :D
Hey SR71 :)
Good to hear! Apple do indeed have fantastic support, and I had a similar issue within a week of buying my MBP. They replaced it no questions asked. Unlike countless issues I had with Dell, and they refused to replace my faulty product! Enjoy the MBA :)

Maybe I misunderstood the question. Of course a modal view will slide in from the bottom and slide off. But a modal view will cover the entire screen. If you want a transparent background or you want a view that only partly covers the screen you need to do it like I described. If you just want a view to slide on and cover the screen then use a modal view.
@misterGreen, in order to do this like I describe you don't present the sliding view from viewDidLoad. You present it in response to another message that the view controller provides and calls whenever it needs to present the picker. I think your Slider class is meant to be a UIView subclass.

The bug that has always bugged me is still there, i.e., Mail plays sound whenever there's junk mail in the junk box filtered out with rules.
Maybe consider using SpamSieve (http://c-command.com/spamsieve/). You can turn off mail sounds and have the spam program alert you only when you have real mail. Plus it is just a great spam program vs Apple's Junkmail system.

Hi,
I searched with no success.
I had some garageband issues trying to download the guitar lessons. Several of them wouldn't download, giving me an error each time it tried. I deleted them all and tried to re-install them. It won't work. I deleted .plist file, as suggested on the apple forums.
When I open garageband, and select Learn to Play, it has a selection at the bottom "Visit the lesson store..." When I try to visit the lesson store, I get an error stating The lesson store is temporarily unavailable" I've gotten this for 2 days now.
Any ideas?

Send feedback to Apple!!!
I agree with you guys - a dialog with "Cancel, Replace, Merge" should be implemented! And that bizarre undo thing ought to be fixed!
I have done this before, although I didn't lost anything of importance. I basically "replaced" a folder with the same name, assuming it'll merge like it does in Windows. That was about two years ago when I was brand new to OS X. Now I know better.

Hello everyone.
I'm considering taking my 2011 MacBook pro back for kernel crashing with USB tethering in 64bit mode.
Has anyone been successful in getting a refund after the 15 return period?
Thanks.

As my mac mini's super drive malfunctions(fail to read frequently, vibrating with noisy while reading), I cannot use the super drive to reinstall my mac mini. After googling, I found that the re-installation could be done via Remote Install Mac OS X on my PC. I followed the instructions e.g. hold down Option (alt) key while restarting mac mini. However, it does not show a list of available startup disk and it just goes to the login screen.
My config and setting:
PC:
I selected "Ethernet" as the network connection in Remote Install Mac OS X;
I have checked "Enable DVD or CD Sharing" on my PC(Win 7 64 bit SP1);
Mac:
All the I/O devices(keyboard, mouse and monitor) are non-apple products.
Mac Mini is a Mar-2009 and non-server version.
OS: Snow Leopard 10.6.7
If I don't want to use an external DVD drive, does anybody tell me how to do it via Remote Install Mac OS X?

I've been trying to do use several shortcuts with the "fat" arrowkeys but I don't have a "fat" arrowkey on my keyboard. Does it mean something else or am I just slow?

Cool, so the answer is 'probably'. :) I'd be interested to know if anyone who has one can verify.
At least mine doesn't:
imac:~ MPE$ sudo ifconfig en0 mtu 9000
ifconfig: ioctl (set mtu): Invalid argument

Same problem here. From what I found out it is known that the 360 is not currently compatible with the Aiport Extreme. They said they may address it in a future patch. I'd like to know how to get that without connectivity though.

hello all, i use o2 for my emails on my ipad, why does my ipad collect the same messages over and over again ?. when i delete the emails, the next day when i should collect new ones i also get all the old ones.
Is your o2 mail set to keep a copy of mail on the server? This could cause mail to re-download messages.

I'm thinking about going all-Sidekick with T-Mobile, so I'm looking into selling my Samsung e105 color flip phone. About a year old, and is in good condition. Can be used with T-Mobile regular service, and also with To Go pay-as-you-go. Included with the phone are euro-adaptor, charger, leather case (cost $25) and a brand new belt clip I bought spur of the moment last week (darn Black Friday!)
Anybody interested? Gets great reception, and (shockingly) I have gone 4 and change days without plugging it in (to calibrate) and it lasted.
Features:
AIM Instant Messaging
Organizer Features
T-Zones enabled
Clear Speaker
Excellent display
Good physical condition.
IrDA Infrared transmitter
Not sure if I'm going to sell quite yet, just checking cash or trade interest. Shipping should be only a few bucks to the US, and I do have the original box and manuals. I have dealt with many people on MR forums and have eBay feedback under skokerz101.
