Don't be sad, you have ME! Shakira comforts footballer boyfriend Gerard Pique after his team loses to bitter rivals

By Daily Mail Reporter

Look of love: Shakira looked heartbroken as her Barcelona footballer boyfriend Gerard Pique headed to the stands to see her after his defeat against Real Madrid last night

As a professional footballer, there's nothing more crushing than losing a cup final.

And if you play for Barcelona, defeat at the hands of your bitterest rivals Real Madrid only heightens the disappointment.

Luckily, for one player, there was a fine consolation prize waiting in the stands at Madrid.

Gerard Pique, 24 , was the lucky man in question, and his commiseration came at the hands of his stunning girlfriend Shakira, 34, who also just happens to be a pop superstar.

Fit of Pique: Gerard rushes straight to Shakira's arms after his team lost the game in a 1-0 defeat

Pique was dejected after Barcelona were narrowly beaten to the Copa Del Rey, the King's Cup, in last night's game, which was played in Valencia.

It was a tight match, with Christian Ronaldo's extra-time goal being enough to separate the two rivals.

Downcast faces peered over the famous burgundy and blue strip as the result started to sink in, but lucky Pique headed to the stands.

There he climbed through fans and headed straight towards the pop sensation, who looked devastated for her boyfriend.

Comfort: It was some consolation for Pique to have his girlfriend on hand

Hundreds watched, obviously warmed by the sight, as he ran towards the beauty.

They shared a look of understanding and sympathy, before Shakira stretched her arms towards her toy-boy.

She the clasped him to her, holding his neck as she stroked his face.

They didn't care who was watching, but the crowd looked on fondly.

Columbian singer Shakira only revealed she was dating the soccer ace last month, but they have proved how close they are on a number of occasions since then.

She confirmed her relationship with Pique last month when she posted a picture of the two of them on her Twitter account with the caption, 'I present to you my sunshine'.

By SARAH BULL

Loved-up: Shakira couldn't have looked happier as she went out for lunch with boyfriend Gerard Pique in Barcelona, Spain

Shakira couldn't have looked any happier as she went for a romantic lunch with boyfriend Gerard Pique in Barcelona today.

The Colombian singer looked stunning in an all-white outfit of a vest top and floaty linen trousers, which she accessorised with a pair of tan heeled sandals and a beaming smile.

Hand-in-hand with footballer player Pique, Shakira appeared entirely content and loved-up as the pair grabbed some food in the Spanish city.

Summer style: The 34-year-old singer looked stunning in her all-white outfit

The 34-year-old singer finally confirmed her relationship with 24-year-old Pique last month when she posed a romantic picture of the couple on Twitter.

The snap shows the smiling pair in front of a beach setting with the sun beaming down on them and their arms wrapped around each other, with the simple message: 'I present to you my sunshine.'

Shakira and Pique became the focus of intense media attention earlier this month when gossip magazines published photographs of the couple holding hands and kissing in Barcelona.

Shakira lays the foundations for new school in Colombia to help 1,500 impoverished children

By JESSICA SATHERLEY

Brick layer: Shakira took time off from her The Sun Comes Out World Tour to lay the foundations for the school in Colombia

Shakira seems to be on a charity mission this month, and made her home country of Colombia her latest location as she lay the foundations for a school in Cartegena.

Just weeks after visiting a school in Haiti, she jetted down to South America to help with the construction of the project led by her foundation ‘Barefoot’.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer, 34, was snapped laying the first brick for the institution, named Cartegena de Indias, which is set to help 1,500 children in poverty.

Helping hands: Shakira was joined by the president of the foundation Howard Buffett (right) and General Secretary of Unasur, Maria Emma Mejia (left)

Grammy-Award winning Shakira, who was joined by the president of the foundation Howard Buffett and the General Secretary of Unasur, Maria Emma Mejia, said she was very happy to be there.

‘We are very happy to be laying the first bricks of a school being built by the Barefoot Foundation in Cartagena.'

Giving back: Shakira founded her non-profit Barefoot Foundation to help poor children in the Americas

She continued: ‘I want to thank so many people, but especially the mayor’s office because I think this is a very high risk area, it has been identified as a high risk area, and it is an area that a lot of other governments would have simply thrown into the waste basket.’

The school is being built in the impoverished neighbourhood of Loma del Peye and will be large enough to take in 1,500 students, according to the Barefoot Foundation.

Heavy work: Shakira was dressed down for her brick laying duties, in a beige vest top and casual black trousers

The complex, that will include science labs, technology and audiovisual centres, and sporting fields will be spread over 7,500 square metres.

Shakira founded her non-profit Barefoot Foundation to help poor children in the Americas.

The singer took time off from her The Sun Comes Out World Tour to take part in the charity exercise.

Meeting the locals: Shakira took time out to chat with the local residents, who will benefit from the school

But she will hit the stage again tomorrow in Panama City at the Figali Convention Center before heading to Abu Dhabi at the end of April.

Shakira was dressed down for her brick laying duties, in a beige vest top and casual black trousers and took time to meet the local residents and play with the city’s children.

At the beginning of April the stunning singer danced with students in Haiti to celebrate the forthcoming renovation of an historic school, which was ravaged by the devastating 2010 earthquake.
